Townes in 1972, with some of his finest writing gathered in one place. “To Live Is to Fly”, “You Are Not Needed Now” and “No Deal” balance bleakness with the dry humour that gets forgotten when people turn Van Zandt into a tragic figure. Country-folk with very little between the song and the listener.
